We bought a used 51c for a new site and i am having trouble getting my local service provider to re-install it for me.(was sold to other customer by them)So i maybe on my own. I have reinstalled the software and loaded the default data base but i don't know where to go from there to get this system up and running. Is their a guide somewhere i can follow to get this system up and running. I started reading the NTP's but don't know where i should start.Haven't installed a system from scratch since college.
Any help would be great.

hasn't changed a bit, build a cdb and go from there. adans for ttys and then you can start with stations, routes, trunks, bars and names.. you can default most of the cdb and modify it later, after that the data base is no different then normal day to day adds

I think i need to setup the loops (SL) and the controler cards for each shelf, should of the default database done this? The old adage use it or loose it is so true.

Did the last customer remove all of that info? Print the CFN and CDB for cust 0 and see what shows up.

No i reinstalled the software as i had aharddrive problem and i did not get the system password.

no not by default, nortel installed a data base with all the loops in it, but you installed the default cdb, that blows away all of nortels modifications, and anything the customer may have changed.. to add the loop go to 97 and add the xpes' then the supl's..

The prompts for xpe and supl are only chg,end and prt. I assume i use change.? After that is done is there anything else or should i go on to the cdb?

Wichie

if you've got the ipe's added, why not. i do the cdb 1st, but it's not carved in stone.. after 97 and 15, you can add a card and see if you can get dial tone,, might need a dtr card in that 1st loop. do you have conf cards to add. another plus for transfer to work

Got this puppy up and running with some help, thanks John.
Next question though and i hope someone can help. We use an Octel 250 for central messaging on a option 81c connected with mega circuits. we have two option 11's already connected and lamping fine, but we are having trouble getting lamping to the 51. MY telco told me we needed pack 175, we got it last night and nothing changed, still no lamping. Is there something we need to do in the cdb? rdb? To enable network messaging?(lamping)

Thanks

Wichie

To print:
LD 22
prt
adan dch #

To Change:
You have to disable DCH # in LD 96
Then:
LD 17
Chg
ADAN
chg dch #
<cr> to RCAP & add MWI

Also check PNI's. PNI in RDB, LD 21 to PRT RDB, should match the far end PNI in CDB, LD 21 PRT NET, to see. RDB on far end should match Local PNI, in NET of 51C. Check RLS level in DChannel and confirm that the correct release level is programmed.

Disable dch how will that effect calls????

I did notice in the rdb for my two option 11's it has sigo as esn5 and std for the option 51???

Wichie

esn5= supports dti data calls plus all other types.

rcap is nd2 which is the same as the two other working sites.

Wichie

esn5 and std for the option 51. i would have used interface type sl1. the sl1 may not send internal names to a ess5 office. if you dis dch all calls will freeze, calls will not be cut off but new calls will not be processed. of course if you have a backup d, it will take over. but you have to dis the msdl and enl msdl x fdl to activate that change

Thanks Guys!!!!
The pni on the cdb was wrong, it was the main system pni#, so that must have created a conflict when it tried to send message commands.
