I am trying to upgrade my NT 4 Server from IE 2.0 to 6.0. I run the Windows update installation. After about 5 minutes of attempting to install the update, I get the following error:

*** Setup was unable to download information about available installation sites. Setup may have been unable to use your current proxy server settings. ***

I tried using the proxy settings and even then I get an error on the installation. Any suggestions, because I don't know where to begin, will be greatly appreciated.

Skip windows update for now and just update IE to something newer manually.

Then I would probably get a more recent service pack on manually as well before trying to use the update for all of the latest stuff.

Oh, maybe you didn't mean an actual windows update and just meant the IE update was failing?

Does the IE 2 on that machine get you to the internet at all?

Might have to go to IE 5 first?
