Hi Folks,

We have IBM J40 server box and IBM 43P Desktop for practise use. The ex-DBA who has since left the company had used it intensively, and basically I would like to delete everything that is on the disk and re-install AIX 4.3.3 and configure it so that I can install Oracle according to Oracle OFA standard.

Is there any guidelines on how to do the tasks? Is there anything I should be aware before removing everything from the disk, i.e. should I leave the bootable file?

I appreciate any feedback or advice, many thanks

Katherine

When you do a complete overwrite install of aix 4.3.3 from CD it will remove
any setup that he had on the machine.

If he had an additional volume group,(lspv) you can either delete the volume group and recreate it........which will remove all his data as well.

I strongly suggest you do a mksysb and a savevg on any of the things he has. Since if you need to find how he got something to work, you can restore a file or revisit a setup.

Will do and many thanks

Katherine
