I am a newbie with Exchange server (at least, this is the first time that I have set one up), and I can't seem to get the SMTP settings config'ed properly because I can't send any mail to the internet. I constantly receive a 550 Relaying Prohibited message accompanied by a lovely note saying that the recipient's name can't be found. I can receive mail with no problem, but sending is something else entirely. I am running Exchange 5.5 on a 2000 Server. Any good ideas for me?

Try checking the routing tab in the Exchange Administrator. Make sure you add your LAN IP range so no one can relay off of you and only your LAN can send messages.
