whenever i reboot the server, it seems i have to go round and manually reboot the client machines afterwards so that they can re-establish a network connection with the server...shouldn't this happen automatically??

I know this doesn't help you any, but after I reboot the server, I can not re-establish network connectivity for exactly 1/2 hour at any workstation (95's and ME's). There has been nothing that I can find to remedy this problem.

Any suggestions?

As far as I know, you should have to do anything. I've got a mixture of workstations, (95, 98, 2000 pro) and they seem fine. Have a good look through Event viewer on the workstations/server and try microsofts site. Knowledge base and the win2k sub-site is fantastic.
