Hi all, first post in a long time

My computer is an AMD Athalon 1800XP, 512MB RAM, Creative Soundblaster Extigy run through a USB hub running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 1.

I recently upgraded my video card from a GeForce MX2(64MB) to a GeForce FX 5200 PCI (128mb) to take advantage of the dual VGA output which would allow me to run two monitors at once.

Since upgrading it though, I have experienced problems with video and audio. The video stutters when played (through Nero Media Centre) and iTunes seems to crach (although this seems due to the soundcard spontaneously disconnecting itself). I have tried to install drivers for cideo card and Extigy again, but to no avail. The computer has crashed once with no warning and I am at a loss for what to do next. I am using DirectX 9c if that is any use.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Check for problems/conflicts with the video card and/or sound card in Device Manager.

If ok, then try different drivers.

You could try to install new drivers for your chipset, since you upgraded to a very advanced piece of hardware compared to what was there before.

Also you could upgrade your bios. both of these often resolve problems from upgrading to hardware that is newer then your bios revision/chipset drivers.

Both bios and chipset drivers govern how your motherboard talks to the card.

If you can connect the extigy directly at one of the mobo USB ports, there will be less latency compared to behind a hub. It can only help.
