How do I re-compile my sendmail.cf from a sendmail.mc file?

A step by step command would be appreciated.

Thanks

mf /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

That's it. Your paths may be different depending on your distro and version.

RhythmAce,

Thanks! However I am still having trouble. I have received input from another forum that "dnl" must be after every line in the sendmail.mc. When I do this, the sendmail file compiles incorrectly. In my original sendmail.mc some clauses start with "dnl" and some end with "dnl", but there seems to be no pattern to it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

dnl basically means that everything after it is a comment. //Daniel

'Tis true. M4 doesn't like to see all that white space at the end of each line so it's a way to say "don't look at it if it bothers you that much".)

FYI,

This command does work for my MC file.
mf /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

This does work:
*put a copy of the sendmail.mc you want to generate a cf for into the following directory
cd /usr/src/sendmail.../cf/cf/

then:
sh Build sendmail.mc sendmail.cf

I don't understand it, buy hey it works. Thanks all for your help
