Are all norstar telephone sets compatible with each other? I was wondering if you can use like T-7208 phones on cics system as well as m-7208 phones? Do you just plugg'm in?
There's some minor exceptions though. A T7316 requires the newest software in the CICS / MICS to work properly or else the system might see it as a 7310 and not all the buttons work.
Some older versions of sets appear to lose their BLF capability when connected to Ver. 6.X software. While the internal auto-dial function of buttons remain, a BLF attached to a M7310 set will no longer function. Likewise, an internal auto-dial key on the set (M7208, M7310) will still call the appropriate extension, but will no longer give an indicator that the set is in use. A real quick test for version of the set is to use contrast adjustment [F][*][7]. If you are only able to adjust to 4 levels the set is of an older vintage.
I am having similar problems with new Mics 6.1 software and older M7208's. Sets seem to work fine except for the top display - I get artifacts where the time and date should be which presents a problem since we are trying to utilize Caller ID on a PRI and that is where the caller ID information should be displayed on DID calls. Older M7310 seems to work fine though (no BLF's on these) Kinda stinks that we upgrade software and now have to replace handsets that we were told would be compatable.
