I run a sales history report that takes 2.5 hours sometimes to run. Once this large amount of data has been broken-down to what I need, manipulation of data is impossible without waiting another length of time to run. Also, the viewer has been the quickest way to view a large report that has been scheduled. Why can't this report be brought in to the designer to be manipulated. Without re-running the report. Any help or suggestions?

What program are you running this report from? This may help...Open the report in Crystal and then click on File and check the "save data with report". This should allow you to open the report in Crystal without having to retrieve data every time you want to preview the report. Then anytime you want to update the data you only have to click on the refresh button. I hope this helps and that I am not way off.

We need to view the saved data in order to analyze the accuracy of the report. In some cases, we have over 400K records with 5-6 groups and 10-12 formulas that are summarized at each level. We'd like to know if there is a quicker way to open a file with saved data. It seems to read the records all over again, which often takes over an hour. We do save a skeleton version of the report for quicker loading and report modification. Is that a better explanation of our situation?
