I have a Dell OptiPlex Gx200. It has one 256/16 module and I wanted to uprade with another.

I looked into the specs of Dell and my supplier and found the appropriate module. However, it did not work.

According to the documentation the computer will accept Ecc or non-ecc memory but both must be the same. the computer shipped with non-ecc so that is what I ordered but I cannot get that to work even when I use the chip by itself.

The new chips are labled 256/8 and the chip in the computer is labled 256/16. Does anybody know what this is and if it makes a difference and what I can do to upgrade this computer to 512.
