RDR errors using VPN w DSL

When I access network shares, they take a very long time, and when I check the event viewer on the pptp server there are RDR errors: event id 3012 an unexpected error occurred on the virtual circuit to remote computer. I can still get to the shares, but they take a very long time. Anyone have any ideas.
