RDP Not working after Update

We allowed some Windows updates to install over the weekend and since then are unable to RDP into the server. I can login on the console and all services appear to be started as normal. I can ping the device across the network.

Firewall is disabled.

RDP is enabled.

If I try to telnet to the server on port 3389 it can not connect. Any thoughts on what may be blocking this?

If you reboot the server again now will it let you connect?

If you can connect after a reboot;

I used to have this a lot and there was a thread on here about this some time ago; after some updates , and I never narrowed it down to a specific update, if you rebooted the server you could not RDP into the box, another reboot and you could RDP into it. This pattern then stuck and carried on like that, so if you had to reboot a box you would have to do it twice to get RDP to work.


Several people commented on that thread that they had the same issue but as far as I know no one had ever found a solution. I'll see if I can find that thread....
