I am trying to coax a USB-attached Lexmark printer (two makes - an X75 PrinTrio and an X4270) to print from a Windows 2003 Server RDP session.

I was successful in testing an HP LaserJet 3330 (after installing the driver on the server) but am not successful with the Lexmark printers. I am able to have the session identify the client-side printer, but when I attempt to print from the RDP client session to the Lexmark printer, I receive the message "The handle is invalid". No corresponding message appears in the Event Viewer.

Have not found any hits on Lexmark's site. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

In the ports tab enable printer pooling and select LPT1. This might help because it will give your computer more legacy support for that printer. Also, you could share the printer and see if that helps.

If the server and client are on the same nework, share the printer on the client, setup the printer on the server and bypass the RDP print mechanism all-together.

Hope that helps

Fernando

I saw the LPT1 setting on one of the MS KB articles, but this doesn't work either. The clients are typically remote and not on the same network. Will double-check the sharing.

Thanks
