When I try to connect to the console on a Windows 2003 server I get the following error message:

Error connecting to existing session for {userid} (Id 0). The operation completed successfully.

I'm sure I'm connecting to the console and it works for connecting to other 2003 servers in my domain, but not to this one. Any idea on how to get around this?

(I'm currently connecting to the server with VNC, but I would rather fix the RDP problem.)

Who is "{userid} (Id 0)". Sounds like you are attempting to connect via RDP to console (id 0). Are you connecting simply by RDC? Or using CMD?

{userid} is my way of writing that here it said my username which I don't want to tell you what is so therfor I wrote {userid}. It could be ie. Administrator.

I've tried to connect in different ways, they all give the same result.

Example:
mstsc /v:{servername} /console

BTW, I am a domain admin so I do have access to the server.

Been there. That link doesn't have an answer to the problem...

Ok. I have no interest in your username. Wouldn't do me any good.

I understand why you might want to connect to console. Is there someone already logged into the console?

Yes, there is someone connected to the console locally - the same user as I try to login as using RDP.

Let me say this. I connect to several differen RDP and VNC servers all day long and I have encountered this problem against two of my 2003 servers.

Can you connect NOT using console???

Yes, I can log on to the server locally. I can also use VNC to connect to the server (That is the way I controll the server on my daily basis). I have tried to log of the local console, I've tried to use TS management and reset the sessions - nothing helps.

And I can connect using RDP, just not to the Console.
