rcp connection refused

rcp' ing from box1 to box2

rcp file1 hci@box2:/home/abc/file1

i have added .rhosts permissions 600 to box2's abc home directory

getting connection refused.

Is the rshd daemon enabled in /etc/inetd.conf
Refresh inetd service after altering.

Do you have a firewall between box1 and box2? Connection refused messages typically revolve around blocked ports or ports not listening on a host (as per the previous comment)

did not have /etc/inetd entry:
