Hi all!
Did anyone have an Idea, why the rcp command from one day to the other didn't work anymore?
I get always the error: permission denied...
Why? See my posting bevore... The last days are strange things happened on my server....

Thanks very much...

And did you know, where I can change the description "Instructor" from my personal Forum settings? I clicked wrong ;-)

When you use rcp. Are you runnig this as root ? As it will depend what the other server your rcp too will trust. Also what permissions are set to the folder you are copying to ?

On the remote server, it is the /home/transfer folder... the permissions for the folder are: rwxrxrwx transfer trans and the foldert in /home/transfer have rwxrwxrwx; also the needed files... Remote I locked in as user transfer... the string (that worked over years until a few days before) is: rcp file host@host:/u/transfer...

Any Idea???

Have you tried rcp -p {filename} IPAddress://home/transfer

Just incase this is a hostname issue.

Are you the only person with root access ?

It really sounds like someone has been'playing' with your system

SOLVED!!!

The problem was, that in the /etc/hosts the entry 192.168.xx.xx labor and in the /home/user/.rhosts "labor_rm" was...

Changed the hosts from "labor" to 'labor_rm" and .... working fine!!!

Thanks!
