Hi there, I've tried to use rcp( with parameters -p) on my cript to transfer files to other RS6K platform. I've noticed the ownership on the target files depends on the user who initiate the rcp command. Is there other way i can also copy the owner and the group of a certain file?

thanks..

Hi,

Something like this on primary server:

cd SOURCE_DIR; tar cf - . | rsh REMOTE_SERVER "(cd DEST_DIR; tar xf -)"

should copy with same user/group (if they have same UID & GID in /etc/passwd file ...)
