Hi Guys,

I installing RCC for a BCM450 R5. Installation verification utility passes everything except the report service setion.

It gives me the following error:
Could not connect to server
I can access the RCC webpage and get real time reports.

If any one has any ideas on this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Have you rebooted the RCC Server as I had the same error and it was OK once I'd rebooted.

If you did reboot, then please contact me as I may be able to send you a guide on rebuilding the reports.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Hi Firebird,

Yes I have rebooted and even reinstalled twice. Still no dice.

I have just emailed you. If you could send me the doc you have I would be great.

Thanks.

Yeah I noticed that, I've given another mail address that 8 meg shouldn't be a problem for.

Thanks.

The 3 most common causes for this problem tend to be:
1) From IIS 7 onwards (Vista, 7, 2008) Handler Mapping Permissions are not enabled for "Script" and "Execute" when they need to be,
2) An Anti-Virus (most commonly McAfee) or a firewall is preventing checks to Reporting Services in the IVU,
3) Reporting Services was not installed properly by Sql Server.

If the O/S is older than Vista, i.e. 2000, XP or 2003, then the first issue is not relevant. Otherwise, the solution is as follows:
1) Open IIS Manager (from Control Panel > Administration) and select the ReportServer$RCCSQLEXPR web site (Web Sites > Default Web Site),
2) Find and open the Handler Mappings item (icon has 2 arrows, 1 blue, 1 green),
3) In the right-hand pane, inside tne window "Actions", select "Edit Handler Permissions..."
4) Make sure "Script" and "Execute" checkboxes are checked.

The third issue (Sql Server installation failed) would first require you to look at the summary.txt file, which can be found in c:\Program Files\Microsoft Sql Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG. This will tell you at a glance which Sql Server components installed successfully. If there is an error, then perhaps the "Microsoft SQL Server: Reporting Services" forum on this site may be the better place to look for a solution.
