RCC on BCM 4.0

I installed RCC.

Real Time – OK
Print Reports – OK
View Reports – Not OK

“Open reports window” shows pending, the other IE window displays Please Wait.

RCC Main will not open other windows after the View on screen option is launched.
I must restart the PC to get RCC to a functioning state.

Trouble Shooting steps per RCC Troubleshooting Guide:

1. Allowed ports in Windows firewall and then turned Firewall off
2. Added Trusted sites in IE
3. Enabled Signed Active-X and Prompt for un-signed Active-x in IE

Remove the latest .NET updates they break RCC

I think there was 3 of them

.NET 3.5 3.0 and 2.0 updates remove them in that order

If its not broke tweak it..

removing .net didn't fix the issue. any other suggestions?

This is what I need to do quite often. There is a viewer for the crystal reports called npviewer, it is supposed to prompt you to install it the first time you try and view a report, an active x message should pop up. I usually have to manually install this viewer, it can be found on the reporting server in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\crystalreportviewers\ActiveXViewer\en. Look for npviewer.exe and run it. Then try to view a report, it may still fail, keep reloading the page with the options that pop up, it will come up eventually, and then work from then on.

Best solution so far that i found after installing a bunch of Rcc's is to re-install XP, it never failed after an XP re-install. on those pc that i was spending hours to troubleshoot..(of course disable the automatic updates..!).
