What is the solaris 2.5 equiv of redhats rc.local?

Startup script that I can use to start things on boot.

whats the proper way to set the domainname and make it permanent?

thanks

David

The startup scripts are in /etc/init.d /etc/rc(x).d directories.
The init.d directory has startup scripts for the system, the rc(x).d directories correspond to the init state of the same number.
(ie. Scripts in rc2.d will be run when the system enters init state 2 )

Putting an entry in /etc/defaultdomain file should set your domain on startup.
