Can anyone please tell me how to back up and restore raw partitions using legato networker 6.1.1. I need to do it by either a script using dd or add the dd command in a networker job. The partitions I need to backup up are oracle raw partitions.

You'll have to use Networker's "rawasm" directive and
to specify the raw device path in the saveset field.

Check the "uasm" command in the command reference guide.

Hope this helps.

Here are some examples:

1. Global directive (Directive resource) for UNIX/Linux
<< /dev/rdsk >>
rawasm: c0t0d0s0

2. Local directive (.nsr file) for UNIX/Linux
# more /dev/rdsk/.nsr
rawasm: c0t0d0s0
#

The run a backup with save, as usual:
# save /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0

For Windows, no directives are necessary. Just specify the
save set appropriately:

3. For a partition
\\.\drive_letter:

4. For a whole physical drive
\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE#:

Then
- make sure that the drive is not accessed by somebody else
- start the save like:
C:>save \\.\Y:

I am new to Legato, I will try the backup.

What is the procedure to restore a saved raw backup.

Just restore the save set (referenced by the save set ID, the ssid). NW will use the correct ASM that it has used for
backups. That's logic !
