Guys

We have purchased a new DS48K and want to migrate raw logical volumes
( Oracle RAC configuration with enhanced concurrent mode volume group)
from DS43000 to DS48000.

What would be best way of doing this kind of data migration "online" and with minimum disruption on services ?

I am thinking about adding newly created Luns from DS48000 to already
existing concurrent mode VGs ( without stopping HACMP/RAC) and then
use migratepv or cplv command to migrate the data?

Can anybody tell me which will be the best way (migratepv OR cplv) command and is there any thing required related to HACMP reconfiguration as a result of this kind of data migration attempt?

Regards

hmmm, maybe not exactly your case, but I remember when our storage specialists were migrating whole disks (LUNs) from EMC to HP XP20000 it was done on offline VGs (unused EMC disks). The migration was really fast in our case - I thing I got disks ready on XP20000 after 5-10 minutes (several drives in total ca. 120GB)....

ask IBM maybe there is an option for online migration beetween two DSes...

you are right.... I forgot about migratepv...

you can just add new drives from DS4800, and then do from C-SPOC something like:

1) configure new LUN on one cluster node and set PVID for it
2) configure new LUN on the other cluster nodes
3) extendvg theVG newdrivefromDS4800 (or more new drives)
4) migratepv olddrivefromDS4300 newdrivefromDS4800
(if more drives then repeat)
and at the end when all migratepv are completed:
5) reducevg theVG olddrivefromDS4300 (or more old drives)

If you have some diskhb devices from DS4300 in HACMP configuration you shuld also replace them with the ones from DS4800.
