Rated Average (MSTR Report)

I need to calculate the rated average as example...

I need to show 1,453 in Average Section... but I cant find and option in the total options.. to do this...

This is a problem with the smart metric setting in the subtotals/aggregation tab in the metric editor. You are trying to get the totalling for the dur/calls Simple AVG to differ from the Rated AVG total in the same report...

Columns 3 and 4 are the same calculation essentially, where column for is the total, and column three (dur/calls) has the 'smart' processing turned off. Make dur/calls 'smart' and you will get the anser column 4 gives.

Smart totals on: sum(m1) / sum(m2)
Smart totals off: sum(m1/m2)

To get the format of the report you have to create a custom defined total. Even with a custom total, the logic of the metric can't change just because the aggregation (sum, avg, etc.) needs to be different.

Basically, I think the question is: how can you make the totalling logic different in a custom defined total versus standard totalling ?

I don't think it can be done in this layout. It could certainly be done with XSL, but that probably isn't practical. The best thing to do is to have two metrics...one that is 'smart' and one that isn't.

One of our consultants had the exact same requirement. There's a supported way to do it but it is not exposed thru the desktop product. We worked it out through the SDK with a MSTR consultant.

Cabs, you need to contact your MSTR production consultant and have him/her search thru their internal knowledgebase. There's an article titled something like "using a metric as a subtotal for another metric" Sorry I can't remember it exactly.
