I have some troubles with the subnet mask and gateway using the RAS Service. I'm using in my net the IP 10.64.xxx.xxx and the Net Mask 255.255.255.0 but when somebody connect in the RAS the server give the correct IP address but the sub net mask Default for the IP Class. 255.0.0.0 How can I change this ???????

Poke around in the Ras configuration you define the ip range it hands out to ras clients there as long as the subnet Check that the client is set to obtain an ip from the server and is not assigned one statically

Hi,

The IP range is OK. The server give the correct IP address.
But the server give other sub net mask and gateway.
Subnet is not set in the client. And we don't have options to configure in the server.
The client can log on in the net use some features but other doesn't work properly.

The range is from 10.64.139.41 to 10.64.139.44

The Server tcp/ip propriets is set like below..

IP 10.64.139.xxx
Sub net 255.255.255.0
Gateway 10.64.139.1

The server doesn't give the correct gateway too.

The remote user needs to be set up like a normal (lan) user ??? Or the server correct with the route table ???

Just out of curiosity, why are you using a private class A IP scheme subnetted to a class C....why not use a private class C with the standard subnet mask of 255.255.255.0??

At any rate..it is normal (according to MS documentation) that only a standard subnet mask be used for RAS clients. It is also normal that if you have a DHCP server that the options are not forwarded to the RAS client. The RAS client will get it's WINS / DNS server info from the RAS server configuration. If you want the RAS clients to have access to the internal LAN then you should make sure that IP Forwarding is enabled on the RAS server. It should work at this point.

If the RAS server is not a PDC/BDC and you are having problems with the RAS clients finding a logon you should create an Lmhost file on the RAS clients with the IP address to computername mapping for the PDC...
for ex. 10.64.139.50 SERVERNAME #pre #dom:mydomain

If you continue to have problems please provide detail on your LAN configuration.
