RAS Export Fails

We are using Crystal Enterprise 9.0, Report Application Server (RAS) with Microsoft Server 2003. When exporting a report to MS Excel 97-2000 (Data Only), the following error occurs:

Internet Explorer cannot download ....lReportsInteractiveViewer.asp from <server name>. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

The error occurs at a record limit between 23500 records to 27300 records. This error doesn't happen on a Microsoft Server 2000. The hot fixes installed on the 2000 and 2003 servers are identical and the version of crxf_xls.dll used on both servers is 9.2.0.660. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately you are dealing with unsupported software. CE9 was desupported from a patch perspective as at April 1 2006.

Have you tried scheduling the report out to excel format instead of Exporting it to excel?

Ultimately if scheduling doesn't cure the issue, the solution lies in upgrading to a supported version (BOE XI or CRS XI) and trying it there.

If it doesn't work in XI at least you can lodge a tech support request with Business Objects.
