I have a Win NT4 Server with DHCP and the Domain is set within there but I have this issue that whenever I dial in to the network the Domain suffix is never applied to the PC
only the DNS servers but I need that suffix.

Now if I connect directly to the Lan, I get the suffix w/no problem. It only occurs therough Dial in.

Is this a drawback of Dial in and the PPP Protocol w/WinNT4?
Please help as I cannot figure this out......

I can hard code it on the PC and it works fine but I want to push this setting out through DHCP so that it gets the same thing thedirect/connected lan pc's get.

Make sure your dialup networking settings are identical to the lan connection. Make sure you have the same protocols, etc. Can you give a description of how the Dialup settings and LAN Settings are configured and also what operating system you are on (95,98,2000?) When you dial into the network you are getting an IP Address from the RAS but just as long as your network settings are correct you should be able to access network resources.

I do have access to all net resources but I have a firewall rule that makes me have to ping the netbios.domain.com name and because of this I need a connection specific DNS suffix. Everything else works fine I just never get that DNS suffix and it is configured on the RAS server. It looks like /I may have to see if there is a workaroung on the FW but I wanted to see if MS had a solution.
