i'm having a problem with some users sending to an HP design jet 5000ps. for some reason their prints spool with no problems yet once it plots it will always cut the plot off about 3/4 of the way through, then sends out a blank plot the size of the sheet that was sent with an error reading rangecheck. the machine only has 256mg of ram, would this have anything to do with it? the image sent was only 8mg but 40" x 72"

now i can send this print from my machine and have no problems what so ever, could it be a ram issue on the machine sending it through the network?

thanks for any thoughts on this

Have you determined if it's application related(visio, autocad, etc) or generic plotting ?

hmmmm good question i should have specified, when i think about it, it's Photoshop having this issue. we also have billing software (technesis....boy do i hate that sucker). i've noticed if i let the print go all the way through pshop, then bill it that this sometimes helps but not in this case.

thanks

Hi there,

I'm having a similar problem here with a HP Color Laserjet 4600dn. I've tried eliminating driver issues, both PCL and PS..no avail. One of the users is using Photoshop on an XP machine as well and she is so far the only one getting this error (but then she's using a bunch of other graphical progs as well). And if it is not that error showing, it's a "STACK" error (not further defined) - but this mostly with PDFs. I'm waiting for HP now to give me extra RAM they promised me to see if that works out..if you want I'll let you know..if you find anything that might solve it please let know as well..? that printer is driving me nuts :)
