Hi,

I tried to use Insert>Name>Define to name a moving data range incoporating "OFFSET" function. I had no difficulties in creating the range name. However subsequently when I tried to edit the "refers" field in the range name I could not do it. The movement of arrow keys automatically insert cell reference within the formula. Is there anything I am doing wrong I am very frustrated

If you are using Excel 97 then you probably are going crazy, which, I believe, is a Microsoft design intent.

Now that I have mouthed off, and relieved some of my frustration, I can advise that this is common behaviour (whether by design I can't say) and that you cannot use arrow keys, home, end, or anything other than the mouse, delete, and backspace keys in the refer field. In other words, click with the mouse where you want to make a change, hit delete or backspace, then key in your new character.

If anyone has a 'fix' for this issue, I would like to hear it.

Regards,

Chris

It worked yesterday.
It doesn't work today.
That's Windows!
