Was looking for some insight.

Yesterday, I installed FSC deskview, ontop of Altiris Notification Server.

The NS is connected to a remote SQL server, which also hosts a test SMS2003 database.

I have checked the altiris database, and there is transfer data in there, that indicates that the connection was sucessful, and some data was able to be pulled down. However, this morning, I was unable to connect to the database.

Absolutly nothing has changed. The database is still there, with no corruptions.

SQL Service Manager on the Altiris machine says "Access is denied"

Thats as much as I get, the SQL Server appears in the slectable SQL Server drop down in the Service Manager, however, on selecting, or refreshing, "Access is denied", and therefore, there are no selectable servies either!

The Altiris machine is a Win2k3ent Server, and the SQL/DNS machine is a 2000 advanved server.

As I say, this was working perfectly last night, just from this morning.

What type of login credentaials are passing from 'Altiris Notification'. Then using that credentail try to login from a QA and see what happens

Good Luck.

Make sure you still have admin rights to the os on the server. The service manager requires admin rights to the OS and access to the SMB shares to populate.

I use Windows Authorisation over the domain, I have checked the local administrator rights on the SQL Server, and have added both the domain user running the Altiris NS, and the Altiris machine it's self. Still no joy.

As I say, the connection was fine, data is in the datebase, and the database was connected and created, and reporting on the day of install.

It's those pesky datafaries again...NO!!! Get out! Leave my data alone!
