Random shares get dropped when failing over cluster

Hi All.

We have a dell SAN and dell server cluster between 2 machines.

Were having a problem where when we fail over the cluster for whatever reason it loses random shares? Majority stay but it will decide to unshare certain folders - leaving you to manually reshare?

Plus we seem to be having intermittant connection issues to SAN provided drives/shares. I.e Outlook PST's, people try to access, says unavailable, try 5-6 times and it will go in?

Any ideas?

Thanks all

I'd take a guess you don't have the share dependencies setup right and they are failing before the drive and hostname are up.

A name resource depends on an IP resource. A share resource depends on a name and a disk resource. For a group of resources, all dependencies need to be contained within the group, IP, Name, Disk, and Share. That is the essence of atomicity. When you violate atomicity (missing or cross group dependencies), that's when resources don't failover or come online properly.
