The search function is down so I apologize for a newbie question.

I need to randomly select 600 records from a list of about 8000. Is there an easy way to select them?

Yes,

1) Create a formula using the RND function.You just need Rnd in the formula
2) Palce formula in the report, supress the printing and then sort by it
3) Use a GROUP SELECTION formula of
Recordnumber <=600

Each time you refresh the data you will get a different list.

This will not work if you have groups in your report, but a similar technique can be used to select group data.
