Hi All,

On the previous post,I forgot to enter in a subject.

I am running ARC2000 on a NT4 machine. How do I prevent ARC2000
from assigning a random ID when I do an inventory of the slot on my
Quantum DLT8000 tape drive?

At one time, doing an inventory of the slots would keep the same ID for each tape. But after I came back from vacation(I showed someone else how to inventory the tapes and he said he didn;t do anything different), it started to assign random IDs.

It sounds like you were either formatting the tapes (or possibly doing a Quick Erase), and the other tech may have done a Quick Erase Plus, or a Long Erase.

Why do you need to keep the Random ID from being random?
