When I import text from word documents it is printing in bold. Although the style option selected is normal and the bolding is random, it seems to happen most with text imported from Word and not text originally created in PageMaker. I am using PM7.0, the font is AGaramond.

Random Bold Text imported from word

2 reasons why this may be happening...
1) The font is not installed or is corrupt.
2) When importing Word documents, extraneous formatting data can monkey with your PM file. Try copying your text to Windows Notepad/Mac SimpleText. Then copy this text from Notepad/SimpleText to PM. This intermediate step removes the junk formatting from MS Word.

When I have to use text from a Word doc, I will either use the Word conversion filter (very sporadic results) or (preferred) convert the Word doc to RTF and then use File>Place. That ensures that the formatting remains consistent and does not add any weirdness, such as applied bold, to the text. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
