I have an application that uses this feature to return random records from a table. However I have been asked to explain the randomisation process that Access uses to generate this number and can't find any reference to this anywhere. I was hoping that some kind soul out there may know. Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Paul

From help:

"Microsoft Access provides the AutoNumber data type to create fields that automatically enter a unique number when a record is added...Random AutoNumbers will generate a random number that is unique to each record within the table."

You probably already saw this. Sorry if you did.

Have you tried Microsoft's site for tech help?

Yeah I've tried but I can't seem to find anything on the mechanics of creating the number.
