I have one windows 2000 DHCP server and scope ran out of addresses. The scope is 172.20.1.xxx and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 What is the most simple way to add another scope?
Thanks for your hepl.

Just add another scope that is not within that subnet so go for 172.20.2.xxx with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 which will give you another 254 hosts within that subnet.

I tried that...the problem is that those new addresses cant communicate on the network since they are in a different subnet.

Depending on which type of routers you are using, you need them to be able to allow DHCP broadcasts to traverse the router. Cisco uses an IP-Helper to accomplish this.

How about another scope using 172.20.0.1 with subnet 255.255.0.0

Also, change the subnet on your 172.20.1.xxx scope to 255.255.0.0 and everyone should be able to see each other.
