I am trying to turn an old IBM 300PL (6862-V10) into a real computer. Amongst many problems,(onboard video,agp slot in wrong place, etc),I cant increase the RAM.I am trying to throw 2 64MB sdram chips extra in there but I keep getting error messages...ie. code 262 configuration change, 162 , and 164 memory increase then finally, no startup and the message, 1962 no operating system found press F1..(or something like that, the computer is in dutch so that's a rough translation). Any ideas out there??

I would expect the 262, 162, and 164 error codes as you have changed memory size. The 1962 error indicates that either the hard drive is not detected, or there is no operating system on the hard drive (this system was pre-loaded with Windows NT 4). Press F1 and look at the System Summary to see just what this PC thinks is installed in it.

Thanks for the reply. I used your IBM link and flashed my BIOS. That seems to have stopped the error messages,the RAM was excepted and seems fine. I now get a bleep warning, 1 long-3 short,this could be RAM problems or EGA, (I've adjusted the parallel port setting to get a pci card working.) Sorted for now, cheers.
