ram,rm,wav,cd to mp3 convertor

Could anyone kindly suggest a free convertor which can convert from different formats to mp3. I found one which converts from wav to mp3, but thats about it. I found one more which converts from ram to mp3 (Jodix), but it doesnt really work well for me.
But does anyone know of any freewares which can convert from most formats to mp3.
Please advice.

I was able to convert rm to mp3, but not ram to mp3. Even if I could convert ram to wav, I can them convert it to mp3. Any suggestions?

RAM files are actually just links to a network source, such as an RM file on a distant web server...

to convert those, you would first need to get a local copy, by finding out where they are located and then proceeding to DL them via a browser that filters extensions, e.g. FireFox (I do not know of hand if IE will do this aswell)...

I did actually download them via firefox, but it only downloaded 1KB. How do I actually download the whole file in firefox.

open the RAM file with notepad...

see if there is a link pointing to the network source, copy that link, paste it into FF, if FF doesn't know the RM file extension then it should ask what to do...

if not, then you will have to go to options, download, filetypes and manage...

you may need to get the MediaPlayerConnectivity Extension for FF, there you can also do nice things with the media files...


PS: since I do not have any RAM files to tinker with, I am going purely on conjecture as to how to get at the link of the file...
