1. Can you mix ECC ram with non ecc ram?
2. Is the easiest way to tell what speed your ram is, is by the processor speed? i.e. if its 50 base number (450mhz etc) its pc100, and vice versa for pc 133 ram?

1) No
2) Not usually by processor speed. The original Pentiums used EDO RAM. Pentium II started out with PC-66 SDRAM I believe, and eventually moved to PC-100. Then of course, P-III made it to PC-133, and the list goes on...So typically, you want to avoid trying to guess by processor speed, though it's possible.

Hi,

1) Most systems will allow the use of a mix ECC and non-ECC memory. Mixing the two types of memory will disable ECC in that chip.

2) No. What brand system do you have?
If you look at the BIOS screen at startup, it can give you a clue as to your motherboard information if you have a clone or off brand computer.
