Hi Folks

We have 1024 MB RAM on our F50 which is pretty small and I (with the N/W Manager) are planning to upgrade it with RAM memory adapter and 4x 256Mb (2x128 SIMMs).

As this will be our first experience installing RAM (limit budgets so can't afford to call out an engineer !), is there anything I need to be aware before installing RAM or anything I should do AFTER installing RAM i.e. configuring cfgmgr?

As anyone done it before, any complications?

Thanking you all in advance,

Regards

Katherine

There is nothing you have to do after the memory installation (cfgmgr is done by default during the reboot).

Have a look in the HW manual that descibe how to put the dims into tha machine planar (otherwise the machine will not reboot) !!!!!!

If you buy memory from IBM try to involve IBM to install !!!!

(try to evaluate a new IBM System: the technology now is cheaper than your old DIMMS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Prob is we buy our hardware stuffs from an hardware agency OpenIT.

They say if we request for an engineer to install it then there will be a charge !
