Is there a proper version of RAL for win 10. I have tried ver 14 and 15 with no luck. I get error about nic not being accessible. Aloha and EDC both work fine.

Didnt want this thread buried under all the micros issues.

I have tried version 15 with no luck. if anyone knows of prereqs needed prior to installing please provide. No issues getting Aloha to run on windows 10. Have users as far back as 5.3 using it now. But RAL is differnet issue

Sorry Ross. No luck for me either.
Why not stick with 7? EOL support is not till 2020 and 10 still has some odd stability issues.

Clay,
I have not had a single issue with Win10 in 3 months. Other than no more RAL. I am guessing part of RAL setup it so set set lananumber of nic as first step. It fails there. If there were a way to not check lana or ask if lana needs to be checked first RAL could work.

I would but my clients have other ideas. in the past 2 weeks I have had 10 of them click on the win 10 update. Its also harder to find Win7 computers anymore. Building from a cd takes forever. 200 plus updates; pass. with some people with slow internet, that can be 24 to 48 hours of downloading. It takes way less time to put out a Win 10 right off the shelf. I have it down to about 20 minutes to get Aloha working. Most of the issue is setting lana number without lanacfg. After that I install classic start so the start menu does not scare the staff. About 6 months ago, perhaps more someone posted how to change lana in win10. Because I am a lousy typer, I created a batch file for the first step to do all the typing. After reading the pdf and attempting both, changing the bind in regedit was by far the easiest and fastest way. one thing I have learned, when running regedit, run as administrator. Afterwards, beboot and you now have lana set to 0. If they have 2 nics, I set the second nic to lana 1 incase they will need to fall back in it later

Fair enough. That's the nice thing about doing inhouse support instead of 3rd party. I get to tell my clients how things are done.

Couple of months ago we were having issues with Windows 10 crashing when trying to load cfc. I guess it's about time I try and figure that out.
I'll see if I have issues with ral as well.

You may want to consider this for some of your clients:

The second method I would like to talk about is blocking the "Get Windows 10" application by Registry Key.

This method can be pushed out via Domain Policy or a ConfigMgr Package to devices. This section assumes you are familiar with the Windows Registry Editor and does not present knowledge on the Registry Editor Application.

In this method, you would perform the following steps to create a DisableGWX key under policies on the device, this would then disable the "Get Windows 10" application and remove the system tray icon as well.

The registry key path is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows"

You will want to create a new Key called "GWX"
Select the new "GWX" key you created
In the right pane, right click and create a new DWORD named "DisableGWX" and set the value to 1

Once done, export the registry key and save as DisableGWX.reg
You can now take this registry key and deploy it to the client devices that you wish to block the "Get Windows 10" application on via Group Policy or a ConfigMgr package. Below are some great links to help with these deployment methods.

Deploying Custom Registry Changes through Group Policy:
For ConfigMgr package deployment, this guide will not go into step by step for package creation and assumes you have familiarity with ConfigMgr Processes (Package Creation, Collection Creation, Deployments):

1. Create a Package in ConfigMgr

2. Set the Program for the package to the following:

General:
Command Line: cmd.exe /c Regedit.exe /s DisableGWX.reg
Run Normal
After Running No action required
Environment:
Program can run Whether or not a user is logged on
Run with Administrative rights

So far no luck with v14. I'll try 15 tomorrow.
Changing the lana paths in the registry is a pain. Makes me miss lanacfg already.

PosTech,
Do you have the installer for 16? 15.4 is the latest one I've got.

POStech it that your opinion or you have see 16 in beta already? By the words "should work" leads me to believe you are guessing and have no solid answer.

I have no idea if it would work or not but I do remember seeing the installer packages with those versions in them in slides from NCR. They aren't up on NCRU yet. Look on radiant update if you can? It may very well still be in beta

I've got the v16 installer. Unfortunately I can't post it but I'll give it a shot next week to see if it works.
