A drive on my raid5 failed. The IBM teck delivered and replaced the bad drive today. The new drive now appears as my new 'hot swap'. I have not yet rebooted. Do I need to do some kind rebuild now for my system to know that new drive is there incase of another drive failure? Thank you.

The new drive may be the new hot spare. The best way to be sure of your configuration is to have the IBM ServRaid application on your system.

Most likely, if you had a hot spare in your system, it would have been used (integrated into the RAID arry) after the hard drive failure.

When the new drive was put in, it was designated as a hot spare.

But, as suggested, you should boot up using the ServerRaid CD or run the application on your server and VERIFY that the RAID array is functional and the hot spare is READY.
