Hi! How do I delete/remove a disk from an array on a Netfinity 5500?

In the existing raid5-configuration I got 4 disks. Now I want to use one of those 4 disks as a hot-spare.
After I have removed the disk physically, the disk still appears, but got a "Id1 - Defunct" message.
Therefore I can´t use this disk to anything else as long as it still appears as defunct in the arraymanager.
How do I get rid of it?!

Do I have to recreate the raid-5 configuration, or can I solve this in some other way?

Yes, You have to re-create the array. The logical drive has been striped on four disks and no way to reduce its capacity.
