I need to rebuild the raid on a 3300MXE on version 9ur3 due to a faulty raid controller/card.

Whe have had 'n couple of sites where the Raid fails and then you need to reschedule downtime etc. I need some advise on easier methods.

They have a 24 hour Call Centre and getting 6 hours for downtime is not going to be easy and then running the risk of it failing. I was thinking about rebuilding their Raid in our Lab using a backup and clearing the Hardware ID on AMC. What do you guys think of this?

I am assuming your drive1 is ok. power down repplace the raid controller card power the system on with drive 1 in slot 1. the controller will boot ok. when up and phones back on restart the raid process on drive 2 it has no impact on call control

Ceaserx, are you talking about replacing a RAID contrller that has failed, a HDD that has failed (as part of a RAID) or after you have replaced a HDD and have to 'copy' one disk to the other? As M1tel states the 'copy' function should have no impact on call control and can therefore be done 'live'

When placing a Raid controller in the system then start the system without any disk and wait untill both HD light on the Raid card are yellow. Then the Raid card has been cleared and you can now power down and place the first disk in and power up the system. Raid controller card will not always have empty addresses.

Hi

Thanks for all the advise.

Is it necessary to do a UpgradeBootrom ALL ? When do i run this command?

I will make sure to clear the raid controller sockets and then follow this procedure after the system has booted:

Press HD2 mirror control (ctrl) button for 5 to 10 seconds to mirror drive.
Note: Release the mirror button when HD2 access LED flashes green twice a second.

The command UpgradeBootrom ALL is mandatory after every upgrade, no exceptions. This command should be done after the 3300 is back up after an upgrade or Full Install of a higher release sw.

DoubleUT, I was under the impression 'UpgradeBootrom ALL'was only madatory to upgrade E2T BootRom after an upgrade?

upgradebootrom all upgrades the following

Midplane (Motherboard) FPGA
MSP430 MCU load on the midplane on CX/MXe/AX platform
CPLD load on the linecards if it is on an AX Platform
DSP II FPGA

You can just upgrade individually if you have replaced a component

e.g. upgradebootrom RTC, E2T, CFE or ALL
