Hi guys/girls I have a quick question. I have a proliant 5500 server with 2 9gb drives and 2 18gb. My question is can I set up raid even though the drives are different sizes please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Sincerely,
Cyruss

If memory serves, you can do this however your 18Gb disks will only use 9Gb - you usually have to use disks of the same size otherwise the larger disks step down to the small disk size.

In your instance, I would assume you would get around 27Gb of RAID5 (4 x disksize - 1 disksize for RAID5)

The Lad is correct, you can use the 18GB drive but you will only be able to see 9GB of it. Assuming you can afford the space, why don't you create two sets of mirrored drives.
