HI all,

I have a question that someone may be able to answer, I am looking to migrate a second partition that is located on my Raid5 set.

drive e: 65Gb
drive f: 16Gb

drive E is low on space and i was looking for someway to merge the two without having to go to all the bother of moving the data and then restoring it from a backup. is there any software out there other than partition magic that would merge the partitions?

cheers in advance

you need to be more specific on what server are you using setting in there.

Assume Server2003, in order to do that you need to upgrade the disk to dynamic disk array and you can merge as much as you want.

Right click on my computer choose Manage-> storage-diskmanagement and right click on disk0 or disk1 or whatever in your setting and choose upgrade to dynamic. you can't reverse back to regular disk and once attach you can't deatach the disk

sorry mate, i should explain what i mean better.

I am not using the microsoft for the riad configuration, to be honest i wouldnt touch it with a large stick. I preffer using the vendors BIOS to configure the RAID stuff.

I did take on board what you said but its not what i meant.

Both disks are in use, one for data the other for dumpling techie stuff on to. I am moving the techie stuff to a dvd or backup or other server so that i can utilise the server space. therefore merging the partition that is already created.

Cheers

sounds like the boy for the job.

thanks and will let you know the results of the reasearch.
