I bought my current PE2400 with a 64meg cache chip on board.

Is there any way i can upgrade this (it looks like a normal DIMM)?

Is there any performance advantage?

Or would i be better off buying a new array controller from Ebay?

Thanks

Rob

I don't think the PE2400 PERC can be upgraded to 128MB. I also don't think it's a standard DIMM - I have a PE2400 here we bought without the RIAD enabled, we now wish to enable it (basically by the memory DIMM) but Dell say they can no longer supply them as what stock they have is reserved for warranty repairs. If it was a standard DIMM I don't think they'd be so hard to come by.

Are you have I/O bottleneck issues? The PERC in the PE2400 is pretty good IMO, a more modern controller may give some improvement by I doubt it would be a a significant one - maybe think about a different RAID config to maximise performance?
