okay, there's this post in the Hardware general discussion forum. this guy said in raid configuration, u have to have 2 same Harddrive using THE exactly same model.

i have a raid-0, using 2 maxtor 40g 7200rpm ata133
the are not the same model
does it really matter?
i am experience some hardware conflicts right now
but i could figure out is it harddrive, or cpu, or rams.
(just some blue screens...)

okay what you said if they are the same
do you mean that they have the same capacity, same ATA transfer rate, and same rpm

or, do you mean that they HAVE to be THE EXACT SAME model?

When using RAID all that really matters is the size of the drives..try and match up the RPM's as well. also depends alot on what type of RAID controller your using..

RAID 0 should be exactly the same size drives..

When doing a RAID 5, if you have say 3 drives 20GB each and you can no longer purchase 20gb drives anymore you can add what ever size you want. But, you will loose any space after 20GB..
