I am in the process of seting up a new server(Win2K3) ML350 G3 with a SmartArray-641 3*HDD in a RAID5 config.

I have installed the server tools that came with the server which also allows me to setup email notifications if there are failures with the server components. But if a HDD goes down in the RAID setup, how can I be notified? There does not seem to be anywhere to set this up even in the SmartArray utilities

anyone any idea

Also is there a way to test that the event email notification is working properly??

Insight Manager handles this via SNMP monitoring. Usually you would have a dedicated monitoring system for this if you have more then a few proliant servers.
