I've installed a few raid config on Mxe controllers. As of late the second harddrive sent is actually two drives.

anyone know why this is? does it have something to do with the fact that the sizes differ which means that if they ship two you're assured of having two same size harddrives?
or are these two drives 'connected' in some way - serial numbers or some low level identity?

Thanks

you should only see one drive. What rel s/w are you running and what physical drive sizes are installed and in which drive bays are they located?

30 years and it's still true.....NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

There is a partnumber to order 2 drives and a part number to order 1 drive.

I have the same issue, my Sales Team indicates that the Mitel sales configurator chooses the part numbers.

50005443 3300 80G HARDDRIVE FRU

50005452 3300 2PK HARDDRIVE FRU
NOTE(S):

Supports the 3300 MXe Raid Option. Provides 2 identical
hard drives.

i can only imagine that the 2 harddrive part number is for systems that don't have any - but in saying this if it's a new system the dual harddrive part number shouldn't be used right??

1 harddrive hould be sufficient? doesn't make sense at this point..

As long as the 2nd drive is of the same size and revision 1 should be enough.

The 2 drive PN provides matching drives eliminating guess work.
