I have a Mitel 3300 MXE with 7.1 software.
It's going to replace a LX at a client location.

My question is do I have to install the software on the primary HD before I install the RAID controller?

"CAUTION: You must install only the first hard drive, with the
installed software, before you boot the system.
After the system is fully booted, slide the second hard drive
into the HD2 position.

No, you can install the RAID controller card and connect the first hard drive ONLY!. Once you have started the system and it is fully booted up, you are then able to connect the second drive while the system is on. Yes, while the system is on.

after a couple of minutes, you can then proceed with the proceedure for mirroring the drives. This can take up to 2 hours and you should not make programming changes until it is done. The system will continue to operate normally, but you cannot make changes. I typically perform the mirroring at the end of the day before I go home. That way I don't lose 2 hours of programming time.

After the drives are mirrored, any programming changes will be done on both drives simultaneously.

You're the man Paterson, thanks for answering so promptly. I was thinking the same thing but I had to make sure.

Thanks again.
